North Atlantic Potash Inc.
 |
North Atlantic Potash Inc.* was established in 2008 to develop a potash raw material base in Canada. North Atlantic Potash Inc. holds 18 permits for exploration of the Prairie Evaporite potash deposit in the Province of Saskatchewan (Canada). |
2008–2010
North Atlantic Potash Inc. acquired exploration potash permits in Saskatchewan. The Company conducted an analysis of the presence and density of historical exploration wells, seismic activity and relative depth of the productive layer for each permit and reviewed the interpreted geological data on local potash members. All permits were assessed in order to establish priorities for further exploration.
The Company has grouped its permits in clusters based on the data from preliminary research conducted to identify permits with the greatest reserves and their development feasibility.
After rearranging its permits into clusters, North Atlantic Potash Inc. sold two permits, the KP 373 permit acquired by BHP Billiton Canada and the KР 385 permit purchased by Sanya Resource Corporation.
2011
North Atlantic Potash sold eight potash permits to Yankuang Group Corporation Limited.
North Atlantic Potash and Rio Tinto entered into a joint venture agreement under which Rio Tinto may conduct exploration and examine opportunities to develop the potash deposit and potentially build an integrated mining and processing complex at nine of the 18 permits held by North Atlantic Potash.
*Prior to May 2011, the company’s name was 101109718 Saskatchewan Ltd.
